Italy, lake Orta, Alps
A week of practice and tranquility on the picturesque lake of Italian Alps to immerse yourself in the world of Zen and the WuWei Temple.
Tiring, complicated life makes us physically and mentally exhausted. Feel the flow of life at the quiet mountains with breathtaking views, calm down and let go of all the life problems.
Lake Orta is located in northern Italy, almost on the border with Switzerland. One of the smallest alpine lakes has crystal water and not so many tourists.
This is what attracts true silence lovers here, people who like to walk along the quiet streets of Italian towns with romantic landscapes.

WuWei Temple
WuWei Temple
On the height of 2200 meters above the sea, there is a hidden temple in the mountains. In the very middle of it grows the ancient more than 1200 years old tree, which was planted there by the first Master of the Temple.
The day starts at 05:30 with a gong and monk's chanting. Monks there live without electricity, hot water and eat only vegan food. Every day repeats itself: 9 hours of practice Kung-Fu, Tai-Chi, Qi-Gong, 2 hours of pray (morning and evening), 2 hours of meditation and 2 hours of free time (to drink tea and for calligraphy practice). At 21:30 the temple turns into a dark and quiet forest and only wind bells and owls accompany the moonlight.
Master's disciples are allowed to go to the village only once a month. Music, any kind of games, smoking and alcohol are strictly forbidden. Eating time is fixed and is informed by a gong. During the mealtime, everyone must be quiet, sit with a straight back, the bowl must be held in the hands (not on the table) and, in case any food falls on the floor, it must be picked up and eaten. Monks respect the work of every person, so each piece of rice must be eaten until the bowl is totally clean.
In this fast time of computers, internet and nonstop connection with mobile phones, the WuWei Temple is a wonderful world of peace, nature and pure Zen teaching.
